Education

Our vision for Christian Education calls St. Philip to be a teaching church - a community of life-long learners studying the Word of God, embracing the teachings of Jesus Christ, and living the faith as disciples in the Church and the world. Saint Philip offers many opportunities for adults to gather in fellowship and study. The Education Commission works to provide a variety of topics and learning styles from which to choose. Pick your topic, pick your class, and find new friends in the Lord.

Opportunities for Children and Youth

Elementary K-5th Grade

Workshop Rotation Model - Each month the classes study a single Biblical story or passage. The rotations include storytelling, drama, computers, cooking/science and arts and crafts. The class is divided into two groups of K-2nd and 3-5th. These groups meet in Room 310, first floor of the Education building.

3 and 4 Year Olds

The children experience a weekly Bible story using wooden characters based on a method called Godly Play. The group meets in Room 5 of the Nursery Wing.

18 Months and 2 Year Olds

Children learn about God and creation through a method based on Bible Babies. This class is in Room 7 of the Nursery Wing.

Nursery

A well-staffed nursery is available for infants and children through 18 months, in Rooms 11 and 12 of the Nursery Wing.

Junior and Senior High Youth

These groups meet in Rooms 205 and 206 of the Education Building to study and discuss the Bible and youth issues through a variety of videos and activities. They are also invited to the church every Sunday evening during the school year. We gather from 5:00-5:45 for Youth Music and at 5:45-7:30 for dinner and Youth Group.
