ST. PHILIP 2007 ADULT EDUCATION
9:30 A.M. ON SUNDAYS
llllll The SPA, Room 200, 2nd Floor, Education Bldg.
The SPA (St. Philip Adults) is self-led, interactive, participatory and accepting. We will be spending the summer doing a study on "Christians and Poverty." This is a study from the Faith and Justice Churches Network. Each week we will focus on several articles and Scripture passages that address poverty and our faith. In addition to doing this study, we will be challenging one another to specific daily practices aimed at changing our habits as consumers and world citizens.
Even if you haven't read the articles, we welcome you to join us on any Sunday. Feel free to join us for the discussion or in making a change in your life!
We are beginning a five-week study on the book ofJames. We will explore themes such as taming the tongue, and works-versus-faith. Martin Luther obected to some of vthe content of James and even questioned whether it should even be in the Bible! We are moving from a modern to a postmodern society, and at the same time the recent advances in commmunication we' ve seen (television, inrernet, cell phones, etc.) may be changing the world events more than the printing press did. How willl the church respond to this period of change? Could this be the start of a new Reformation ? Join us as we read about these questions, hear from a varietry of voices, and share our own thoughts and ideas on the Emerging Culture.
