Elementary 2nd-5th Grade

St. Philip uses the PCUSA “We Believe” curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade.  “We Believe” is a multiple intelligence curriculum based on the lectionary.  The Sunday School time is structured much like a worship service.  Class opens with an assembly time when ‘God Calls Us Together,’ followed by a Bible Study time when we hear God’s word, a ‘Claim’ time when students respond to God’s word personally through numerous activities and a time to ‘Depart’ when God sends us into the world.

• Class begins with music in Room 105 at 9:30 a.m.   Our Director of Music, Tom Goetz, and his wife, Paulette Goetz, teach the children to use music as a way to give thanks and praise to God.  Children are escorted to their classrooms by an adult at 10:00 a.m. when Sunday School begins.  Sunday School doors open at 10:45 a.m, in plenty of time to attend worship.  Parents are required to pick up and to sign out their children or to designate a responsible friend or family member to do so.

• Our Sunday School rooms are designed with grade-appropriate supplies, furniture, and equipment.  Second and third grades meet in Room 105.  Fourth and fifth grades gather in Room 103 of the Education Building on the north side of the campus.
