Being Presbyterian in a Dysvangelical America

Presented by: Rev. Ted V. Foote Jr., Co-author of the book Being Presbyterian in a Dysvangelical America: A Guide to Claiming the Good News of God

“Dysvangelical” is a term coined by Foote to describe a voice that’s articulated and has a lot of political power, used by people who are defining what they understand ‘Christian’ to be. “We wrote this book in many ways to push against that and what Presbyterians understand what it means to be faithful” and “not defined by this very loud public voice that’s got a lot of power these days.”

Ted V. Foote Jr. serves as the Zbinden Chair Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Leadership at Austin Presbyterian Seminary. He has pastored Presbyterian churches in Texas and Oklahoma and authored several books, including Being Presbyterian in the Bible Belt (with coauthor P. Alex Thornburg) and Being Disciples of Jesus in a Dot.Com World.

Adult Bible Study | Room 204

Bible study is an ongoing and thorough investigation of the multi-dimensional Word of God.  In this class, we also consider the insights of other translations and scholars to deepen  our understanding of God’s continuing message of faithfulness to God’s people.
