An evening about ministry in Ukraine with Rev. Robert Gamble and Oli Balaban

“The setting for the black and white portraits is the lobby area of a low-cost resort hotel on the beaches of Bulgaria. The time was late in the afternoon, the sun coming through large windows. We sat on plastic chairs. This was the last night of a week away from the war for families displaced by the war in Ukraine. What interests me, is the expressions on their faces. They want to look good. They want to show beauty, strength, and courage. When I look in the eyes, however, I feel they have something to say that they have not yet put into words. This is what I would like viewers to think about. Our work in Ukraine is with families displaced by the war. February 24, 2026 will mark the end of the 4th year of this war.”

Robert Gamble, D.Min. is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Executive Director of This Child Here, Inc, a validated ministry in Ukraine.  Oli Balaban is the Program Manager for all work in Ukraine. They are married.
